SCAM: Seattle's HCG Diet Weight Loss Center

I received an e-mail from a fellow diet blogger about a website who has stolen our before & after pictures claiming that we used their program to lose our weight. This is a scam. We did not use HCG (human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) and never will. I lost my weight using a low carbohydrate diet. There were no magic pills that allowed me to miraculously lose weight.

I have not yet contacted this website. I'd prefer first to get input from my readers as to the best course of action. It's not just about removing my picture. I am more concerned with shutting down a fraudulent company who is preying on those of us who are looking desperately to lose weight. I am sure that there are many laws being broken beyond just violating my photo rights.

At the very least, the company is guilty of Libel. You could probably throw defamation of character in there since you are trying to encourage people to diet the low carb way. Some people could assume that you lied or cheated to lose your weight.

Yes, you own the picture, so it's copyrighted, so is every word you and everyone else has posted here.

This might also be a case of consumer fraud. But rather than spend your own money to get this mess straightened out, I suggest you contact the correct state's Consumer's Affair office, and also the Better Business Bureau. If you can't find the numbers by using Google, just contact any State agency that looks close and ask them for the number to file your complaint. Good luck.

I just went to their website to check it out and it looks like they have taken down all their photos.

I had 3 different videos of mine stolen on youtube and used to promote different silly weightloss methods. I reported them immediately and youtube took action. I viligiantly scouted around youtube for other videos of mine that were stolen, and eventually took down all my videos. It really soured vlogging for me.
I am not sure what action you can take, but you can always consult a lawyer for advice.

I'm chiming in a little late but contacting the Better Business Bureau really won't get you anywhere. They typically just log complaints. If you want to shut a business down due to fraudulent business practice, contact your state Attorney General. They would be the office responsible for the ultimate shutdown no matter who you contact up front anyway. You'll probably see some pretty quick movement from them when it's something as serious as stealing your picture to fraudulently promote their latest wonder drug.

After reading everyone's comments on this blog and others, I did some digging around, here's what I came up with:
Notice carefully how they are working:

Radiant Med Spa & Weight Loss
http://hcg-seattle.com/contact.html
2106 N. 45th Street
Seattle, WA 98101

Lux Medi Spa
http://luxmedispa.com/
2106 N. 45th Street
Seattle, WA 98101

If you Google: "lux medi spa", you will notice that the listing pulls up as "Radiant MEd Spa"
They are the same business... operating under different names.
Notice the exact physical address.

Now the business owner and CEO of Lux Medi Spa according to this site is scary (Aaron Ludtke):
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/aaron-ludtke/9/a27/9a6

Search him on Google: "Aaron Ludtke" and be ready to read some shocking information. Wow!

You will also notice that Dr. Allen Johnson is the Dr. who is running the Lux Medi Spa, hCG Diet Program.

If you go to this website: http://advancehcg.com/contact.html, you will also notice that Dr. Johnson is running an operation in Spokane and Kennewick, WA under the business name "Advanced HCG". These guys are all linked together (Jonathan, Stan and Donna Colson).

Other operations and team working with Radiant Med Spa and Dr. Allen Johnson can be found here: http://www.gotnd.com/Links.html and http://www.hcgbusiness.com/about.html (Harvey and Judy Hamm).

As you can see, you have opened Pandora's box regarding this ring.

Shocking information is right! Wow this guy is a real creep who has had his chiropractor license revoked... and rightfully so!

Good luck!

I tried to call "Aaron" to tell him exactly what I thought of him... but of course he did not answer his phone.... Maybe I will try again later.

Sharing this topic to everyone is a helpful act. I will share this post to my friends because I believe they also need these information you've shared here.
Thanks for sharing.

Dr. Johnson is not "running" either Luxe Medi-Spa or Radiant Med Spa. He only subleased the clinic space. He has no input over their business practices. You can leave a message and contact us at 1-800-292-6348.

I am his wife and know a little about it...

So his wife apparently just goes around scouring the internet for any remarks about her husband? She's probably in on it, too.

FYI -- Someone called "Bonsai" is posting comments here that I rejected and has likely posted to other blogs and message boards regarding this topic. He includes a link to another clinic which oddly enough is very close to the one that ripped our pictures and twisted our success stories. So, if you see this, don't jump the link to the HCG Gold website. It's likely the same people still unscrupulously seeking out suckers. Once again, I endorse nothing but low-carb and low glycemic index diets.

Here is what he wrote (minus the link):

That's crazy! I knew these guys are up to something. I've been tracking and researching their Internet marketing tactics and have found some similar shady practices. I'm working for a hcg clinic and from what I've learned hcg is definitely different than a low carb diet. Interesting stuff. I appreciate you bringing this to light!
